The Digital Amusement Network. Founded and registered in November of 1997.
We abbreviate our title simply with DA (dee A). Myself, Tadau (pronounced tah-daou, Dan Barrett) has solely developed
DA since the beginning. The first of the pages, well, sucked. Big time. 3 years ago I didn't know a thing about web
design, and anti-alias filters for Paint Shop Pro were new and amazing things (and just like all new web technologies,
we had to exploit the crap until someone smacked us). The second design was the longest standing until now. My brother
had a hand in it with some graphics materials. It featured "No-suck Chat", the old Beretta Indy site, and my personal page,
where I probably proved my insanity. But fear not, much time has past and the insanity had only started.
The third design was mearly a weblog of a sort. Followed by the fourth, nicknamed the "Alpha site". I spent the summer
of 2000 playing with this design, updating it daily with amazingly pointless info at times. Usually seeing the sun rise
for days on end contributed to that.
I scrapped it all.
Enter the new project, the Beta site design, and Operation Wildfire. I've now had almost two years of experience and exposure
of web design with the jobs I've been working. The new site design will reflect this. All
pages are generated in Perl. I developed a program that creates and allows standardization of all pages within DA, and by
using a user-friendly page manager, Operation Wildfire doesn't have to concern itself with the technical aspect of any
page. Operation Wildfire is the brainchild of Setzer (Shanon Cousland), supported by many individuals including myself,
and will be responsible for many of the articles and textual content.
DA is not here to look PRETTY. DA is not here to make you smile. DA is not here to tell you what to think. It is up
to you to translate what you see into whatever emotional (or physical) response you so see fit. Our intention is on par
to hardcore intellectual humor. But we can not hold such a beast, toss it to you, and expect everyone to enjoy the experience. No. We
instead offer our personalities to you. I could be quick to call them unique, but that's for you to decide. Although we are ever
changing, the careful eye may see our limits, even as the limits change. This brings understanding.
However, DA does not rely on the DOT COM. Not by any means. What DA does for us is provide a gateway from what we do and how
we interact, to the rest of the digital planet. The internet is so convenient in that way. This is the most important aspect
of DA - the gateway.
I don't know how far we will go. I do know the potential for success, is real. What success you ask? We each have our individual
goals. I have mine. Success is achieving those goals. I will admit, some are way out there, but to strive creates strength.
